Trellis wordmark

Helping K–12 leaders give every teacher the personalized feedback they deserve.

Trellis is a feedback platform built by school leaders, for school leaders. We transform scattered walkthrough notes into clear, actionable coaching conversations that help teachers grow.

Our mission

Most districts don't have a feedback problem. They have a time problem.

Our mission is simple: make fast, clear, growth-focused feedback possible for every teacher, without adding more bureaucracy for leaders. Trellis helps principals, coaches, and district teams move from a handful of formal observations each year to consistent, strengths-based feedback cycles that teachers can actually use.

The problem we're solving

Districts invest heavily in professional development days, workshops, and one-off trainings. Yet research and experience both say the same thing: these events rarely change daily classroom practice.

What actually moves the needle is frequent, targeted feedback from the leaders teachers already know and trust.

But there's a gap. Leaders want to be in classrooms more. They want to give better feedback, more often. But translating rough notes into clear, professional write-ups takes too long. Feedback gets delayed, buried in docs and emails, or reduced to compliance. That's the tension Trellis exists to solve.

Our approach

Trellis turns a 10-minute classroom visit into actionable, teacher-friendly feedback in minutes.

Perfect Recall

Every observation, goal, and note lives in one place so you and your teachers can see a growth story over time instead of scattered files across apps.

Positive-First

Feedback starts with what's working. Trellis surfaces strengths first, then frames next steps with specific, supportive language to build trust.

Framework-Aligned

Trellis adapts to your world: CSTPs, Danielson, Marzano, UDL, local walkthrough forms, and district focus areas are all built into the feedback flow from day one.

Under the hood, Trellis uses AI to enhance notes—not replace professional judgment. Leaders stay in control of what’s captured, what’s shared, and how it’s used.

Our story

Feedback grew me more than anything else as a teacher.

But when I became a vice principal, I constantly felt behind. I knew coaching mattered, but I was always fighting the clock: classroom visits, follow-up conversations, and then hours spent turning rough notes into something clear enough to share.

I kept asking the same question: if feedback is one of the most powerful drivers of teacher growth, why is the process for giving it so slow and fragmented?

That question led me to start building Trellis. Initially, Trellis was a simple tool to help manage my own observation and coaching cycles. Over time, it became a platform—shaped by real walkthroughs, real conversations with teachers, and real constraints on leaders' time.

After using Trellis in my own school and seeing the shift—more touchpoints, clearer language, less stress—I began working with other leaders who were feeling the same pressure. Trellis has grown from there.

Today, we're in late pilot with schools across several districts. Our focus remains the same: helping school and district leaders close the gap between what research says about feedback and what actually happens in classrooms.

Who we serve

Trellis keeps every layer of an instructional team aligned.

Principals & Assistant Principals

Spend more time in classrooms and less time wrangling Google Docs. Trellis keeps walkthrough cycles moving so the follow-up happens while the visit is still fresh.

Instructional Coaches

Capture cycles across multiple teachers and schools in one place, align to district priorities, and surface next steps that feel like coaching—not compliance.

District Leaders

Get coherence without the bureaucracy. Trellis gives you visibility into trends and culture while keeping the actual feedback growth-focused and local.

Teachers

Experience feedback that feels collaborative. Strengths are named first, next steps are specific, and transparency is built in so nothing feels like a surprise.

How Trellis fits into your system

Trellis is designed to complement, not replace, your existing walkthrough forms and coaching models, your current instructional frameworks, and your formal evaluation and HR systems.

We stay intentionally separate from personnel files and ratings so that Trellis remains a growth-first space. Districts control who sees what, and teachers always know when feedback has been shared.

Built with trust, privacy, and security at the center

Trellis is built on enterprise-grade infrastructure and aligned with leading privacy and security standards. We support role-based access, data ownership for districts, and zero data retention by AI providers.

Your data stays yours. Leaders stay in control of what's captured, what's shared, and how it's used.

What's next

We're currently partnering with districts to pilot Trellis, refine features with real leaders, and study the impact on feedback frequency and quality, teacher perception of feedback culture, and how classroom trends inform PD and coaching plans.

If you'd like to see how Trellis could fit your district's instructional priorities, we'd be glad to show you.
